  1. 4 STARSTrouble With Air and Magic is book 2 in California Malcolms I want to go and read book 1 now I like thecharacters They are quirky, fun and likeable Dorothea has so many sides to her, because she tries to hide herself.Conan is terrible with communication with people He is smart, slob and cares about his family. The book is full of action, drama, paranormal and mystery It also contains a lot of sex scenes which I admit to skipping over.Dorrie does not feel like her brother is dead She did not fe [...]

  2. I had, if not high expectations, then at least decent expectations for this book, given previous ratings and reviews However, I was sadly disappointed I have to start by saying that I absolutely loved the characters They were quirky, fun, and wonderfully flawed Even the plot was interesting two families with significant supernatural powers have each apparently lost someone in a mysterious helicopter crash Computer geek Conan yes, that is apparently his name and feng shui expert extraordinaire wh [...]

  3. Received from LibraryThing s January 2013 Early Reviewers batchThis is the second in the California Malcolms series, and i did suffer for not having read the first in the series Characters and events from book 1 see to have carried over into book 2 or perhaps not, I dont know so bits were a little confusing what s the deal with Pippa s voice, and why did Magus wife commit suicide for instance Anyway it s a different take on a romance story with a novel twist of many people having some form of pa [...]

  4. Conan and DorrieOz s brother Magnus has been killed in a crash of a top secret military helicopter His younger brother Conan, a computer and security whiz, is suspicious that he still might be alive This is because the mysterious Librarian of the Malcolms is sending him messages Her information leads him to Dorrie, sister of the pilot of the downed helicopter Could there be another family like the Malcolms from China Danger, fragmented leads, and several different mysteries merge as Dorrie and C [...]

  5. In Rice s contemporary romance novel, Dorothea Franklin s life is a little off center at the moment Her father is an invalid and she is drawn to doing anything to prevent her brother from dying in a helicopter crash. In search of the truth, she turns to computer expert Conan Oswin because his brother died under similar circumstances Dorothea didn t feel the vibrations of her brother s death and when she reveals that fact to Conan, he wants to dismiss the notion but his instincts are strong and hi [...]

  6. I received this as an Early Review ebook through LibraryThing Overall I enjoyed reading this book Dorrie and Conan are very intriguing characters, each with their own talent s that made it hard to put the book down, especially since it was full of action, mystery, drama and paranormal elements However since this is the second in the series and since I haven t read the first a lot of the characters with their quirks from the first book was hard to keep up with That said though, since I did enjoy [...]

  7. First of all, I have to admit that I have not read the first book in this series That said, Trouble with Air and Magic stands on it s own very well Rice keeps the characters in motion, the action is continuous, and the mystery enthralling The characters are both quirky and like able The story is woven with magical elements, but the woo woo stuff is really natural, even for someone like me who doesn t generally cross into the fantasy genre Despite that, I read this book in one sitting, and went b [...]

  8. From the very first sentence that had blurry eyes where it should be bleary eyes, this one is noticeably not as well edited as I expect from Patricia Rice There were also a few things repeated so many times throughout, that at one point I literally said out loud, I get it already So this one didn t hold my attention nearly as well as the first, nor as well as her books usually do Still, that s like saying this chocolate truffle isn t as good as the others in the box it s still chocolate.

  9. This is the second book in the California Malcolm series and I cannot get enough In this story, you learn about how the Malcolm Ives families grew and moved around the globe The main characters are both strong personalities who have learned not to trust very easily It is a lot of fun to watch them match wits From the first chapter, I could not put this book down and before I new it the story was over It is so enjoyable, that I have come back to revisit these character many times since the first [...]

  10. Excellent story, lots of adventure and some really interesting psychic ness Can t wait for the next one This is the story that brings the Lings in to join the rest of the Malcolm family and discussions of chi and feng shui.

  11. An engaging story that is hard to put down Love the characters and the setting and can t wait to read stories along this line.

  12. WAY better than the first book in the series suspense action mystery and a very interesting take on two unusual people who can see very quickly that they are a match for each other I couldn t put this down so much going on I have to say, however, that I HATE the cover 1 Dorrie s very curly hair is shown as straight 2 Dorrie s hair looks like someone off camera is pulling it out of the shot weird 3 Dorrie s eyes are closed 4 both character s bodies are overlayed with writing that tells us how gre [...]
