  1. standard stuff so far about 120 pages in so 1 3 bk see ken Follett century trilogy, the part with the lord and the maid but engagingly written there is also a Spanish section that is less well developed to date but I expect to get interesting laterI finished the novel and I have some mixed feelings though overall I would definitely read the implied sequel as the storylines kind of stop in mid action when stuff actually begins to get really interesting both on a personal level and on a political [...]

  2. 3.5 starsThe Web and the Wing is a sweeping family saga which begins after WWI and runs through 1930 It s set in England and Spain and centers on the family of the Earl of Eglington. The characterization is good, perhaps even than we wish to know The story moves slowly, I felt, perhaps because of the depth of the historical facts woven throughout the actions of the family. While well written, this book is probably better suited for those who thrive on history I was given a copy of this book from [...]

  3. This novel covers the time period from November 11, 1918 to the late days of 1930, and is the first book in a planned trilogy The story begins in the village of Ardleagh in Lancashire, where the Earl of Eglinton and his family are returning following the was The eldest son was killed, and James is now the one who will inherit the title, a development that will mean that his father will determine a different course of study for him than James wants for himself.Claire has returned to the estate to [...]

  4. Although I clicked the little button that says finished, I was unable to finish this book.I hate giving bad reviews Even than that I hate giving up on books This book was not necessarily bad, the story holds promise, the righting style was just not for me, everything was over described and for want of a better word boring, and I was therefore unable to get past page 98.My plan is to try reading the book again in a few years and see if I have better luck.

  5. This is not your average historical romance novel it is a look at British society that is attempting to be redefined after the great War Read the full review at OurBookClub.
