  1. I really enjoyed this one It kind of reminded me of the movie Housesitter with Goldie Hawn and Steve Martin I thought the story was a lot of fun, a nice lighthearted read I liked Juliet the only time she kind of bugged me was when she was a little snippy with her maid, Pansy I especially liked when her and Alexander bantered, wish there had been a bit of that Alexander was a great leading man, he treats Juliet well and was surprisingly agreeable with the situation It was fun seeing the differen [...]

  2. I have read all 37 Regency novels by Emily Hendrickson and loved them all Each was different, although thoroughly Regency and accurate in detail the end of my reading of her novel I felt I had lived in England during that time Her novels are light and pleasant to read Let other pens dwell on guilt and misery Jane Austen could have been this author s motto I enjoyed the fact that each of her heroines had a special talent or interest which was explored as the novel progressed All were appropriate [...]

  3. Juliet Winterton is the daughter of a Viscount a very absent Viscount who left for Russia many years ago and hasn t been heard from in several years So her stepbrother, Marius, is sure that their father is dead and that he is now Juliet s legal guardian Right before she turns 21 he tries to force her into a very unwanted marriage with his gambling buddy. So Juliet runs away to the south leading him to believe she has gone to the north and overhears a couple talking about how the Viscount Hawkswoo [...]

  4. This was such a cute clean read I really enjoyed all the predicament this silly woman got herself into I liked that she was smart in one way but not in another I loved the banter between the two and the love story was so sweet I did wish I knew about the leading man I never felt like I got to know him and that hurt the book for me This was well done for this type of book Normally they are to dramatic and overdone This was just fun to read Adult PG read.

  5. Juliet Winterton, the daughter of a Viscount and Alexander Barr, Viscount Hawkswood, both trying to escape from trapped marriages, help each other fending off unwanted suitors with a pretended matrimony which ended up in a real cute and sweet romance A wonderful fun read

  6. The Unexpected Wife is a regency romance with no sexual content Emily Hendrickson is a new author to me, and I will be reading of her books.

  7. the plot unfolds in such a way that one should only continue reading if one wishes to test the bounds of incredulity.

  8. I finished this in the wee hours of the morning and now in the full light of day it still brings a smile to my face I had to keep reading the story was so much fun This is true chick lit my definition of chick lit is the author 1 taking a farcically improbably premise girl takes over manor and pretends to be wife and 2 making a great story out of it This was delightful I loved the cast of characters, particularly the two main characters, the setting of the lovely manor house in the country, and [...]

  9. Not even a nod to the social expectations of the times SO VERY MANY things that made not a whit of sense in a historical setting Not a nod towards consistently acting characters, either I found myself actually annoyed at being expected to believe that the heroine, literally living a lie, kept telling herself that she cannot lie, while she lies nonstop to every person in her life who all keep showing up at this hideaway village And a hero whose only goal is not to be trapped in marriage, who show [...]

  10. A sweet romance that showed promise at the beginning if you are willing to suspend your disbelief that something like this would ever actually happen be able to be pulled off It might have been okay if it had ended at the 50% mark After that it was just so repetitive new guests show up, have to be convinced hero and heroine are married, hero and heroine dance around their feelings for each other yet again I was skimming by the end.

  11. Way stinkin fuzzy cute This makes me think slightly of Moli re, but doesn t have any heavy intelligencia issues Just a bunch of characters marching on and off the stage, leaving the absurdly likable couple to realize they love each other in spite of everything Great summer afternoon read

  12. Absolutely charming, adorable and cute to the max Love love love To my understanding there were some mistakes with the names titles and I felt that her refusal to marry him until the very end was unrealistic, but all in all, a very satisfying read warm fuzzies

  13. I have read this book a few times and love it It has the English romance without having to skip any portions Highly recommend if you love the chick flick in a book.

  14. A very sweet story I would have liked it even if the ending had been a little satisfactory Both the hero and heroine were like able I just didn t get enough if an ending It felt abrupt.
