  1. I received a copy of this book at a Solution Tree Summit in Phoenix, and have waited until I had a good swath of time to read it If you ve been to a Solution Tree Summit, you can hear Richard DuFour speaking, which isn t a bad thing His diagnosis of American education is compelling, richly researched and documented. There isn t anything that DuFour says which I can disagree with Nor would I want to However, the kind of change which he advocates will only be, at best, spotty because of the nature [...]

  2. Richard DuFour passed away on 8 February this year How I wish I had met this man I cannot believe how much DuFour accomplished in his lifetime This book is his magnum opus He said so much, so elegantly and with such courage about the art, craft and science of teaching DuFour has nailed it regarding what is required to prepare our students to be competitive, Life long learners What a legacy he has left for America.

  3. I wouldn t recommend this book The author does a nice job of analyzing America s current educational system, however he proposes a single solution to a myriad of complex problems The second part of he book reads like a repetitive sales pitch than a bank of appropriate strategies There is always than one way to inspire learning I wish this book would have embraced that fact .

  4. This was one of the better education books I have read in recent years Rick DuFour does an excellent job of discussing what we do well in the profession and what we can improve upon with simple changes in the PLC process.

  5. Started slowly, but about 1 2 way through I didn t want to put it down I was inspired and challenged many ways professionally.

  6. Another inspiring read by Richard DuFour that helps educators answer the most pressing question of which is foremost in their minds, How do I help all students in my classroom reach success A good portion of the book is centered on the importance of PLCs and the PLC process, which is very similar to the information that can be found in other DuFour books That being said, this information is so relevant and important to the task of helping all students succeed in the educational sphere, that a Du [...]

  7. DuFour discusses accomplishments and challenges facing contemporary educators and then stakes out his predictable solution Professional Learning Communities Most educators are familiar with this concept in its totality or in parts, but it is amazing how few schools and districts truly operate under these principles, even though they are clearly the best thing going Though there is a lot of familiar territory, there are also new insights The best thing about the approach to this book would be if [...]

  8. I attended a book study in my school district for this one It was hard reading the first two chapters as it discusses all the ways the media, public and Politians want to frame educators for the source of many issues with today s America We read through the text, and learned what was our strengths and opportunities as educators are I do recommend reading and discussing this text, the conversations and time are worth the effort.

  9. I love DuFour s writing He is inspiring and knowledgable His writing includes the research to support truths about education today He writes of this being the greatest generation of educators , and pushes us to do better.

  10. Both a love letter to today s teachers and a clarion call for action, DuFour s latest is a must read for teachers, school leaders, policy makers, and all who seek to answer the question, How can schools best meet the needs of today s learners
