  1. Absurd. So, it took me a while to warm up to the ridiculousness of Anders and Finch s interactions Frankly, Finch spent a good third of the book insulting Anders, which annoyed me I would have punched him and then was all moony the last bit Once, I let that go and just rolled with the sniping, tug o war relationship it got better, but it never really seemed to come full circle for me At one point, it seemed like their characters shifted and while I wanted a happy ending for Anders, Finch s meddle [...]

  2. A fastidious, snarky introvert who hates people meets a lovable, unfiltered blurting social butterfly with zero personal boundaries. What s not to love about that, right Well I can t really put my finger on it, but somewhere between the fairly quick pacing and the lack of personal history on the MC s, this one only rated as an okay read for me.I loved the concept, but the execution just didn t provide me with the feels that I had hoped for.The truly bitchy, slightly OCD main character, Anders, ke [...]

  3. I received this book as an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.I liked this book I liked seeing Anders and Finn getting to know each other I liked that Finn wasn t out to change or fix Anders just to open his horizons It was a nice change of pace I liked both characters, and watching them fall in love was really sweet Just what I wanted to read on a long car ride on a dreary day Nothing too heavy, or too complicated just a fun, short read.

  4. Wow I did not like this book at all I bought it completely on impulse because I like a good opposites attract story and it has the potential, but ultimately fell so, so flat for me There s basically no context or scene setting, like I don t even know what country it s set in Plus the characters are incredibly one dimensional and stereotypical and I tried to like them but I just couldn t The writing is not terrible, but the author gives herself so little to work with I tried, hey, but sorry, this [...]

  5. This is an odd couple story of two neighbors There is NO steam, here.Anders is an introvert who lives by a rigid schedule and prefers to keep his neighbors outside of his door He s startled out of his carapace by Finch who is a social butterfly and insists on having his way with Anders and I mean this in a romantic sense, though there is nothing beyond a kiss in this book.Finch is that kid in school who continually poked you in the back, or whispered to you just when the teacher was sure to turn [...]

  6. I m not so sure about this book It was good, yeah, but there s something that didn t quite work for me.Well, first, it was difficult to connect with the characters I still don t feel like I conected with them at all Maybe if it had started with about Anders, like maybe one whole day with him and not just a couple of minutes before the Finch bomb I don t know, it could have worked. As for the plot, it felt extremely rushed I ve read lots of shorter stories that have taken longer to realize the ma [...]

  7. Reviewed for Prism Book Alliance The Neighbor is a story that you are either going to love or hate I am not a fan either of the main characters in this story, and, therefore, it made it very difficult to enjoy the story For full review see Prism Book Alliance prismbookalliance pos

  8. We re all a little weird And life is weird And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness and call it love true love Robert Fulghum True Love Stories Told to and by Robert Fulghum When Anders s new neighbor, Finch, moves in, he soon finds the best way to deal with him is to go along with whatever Finch wants to do at the moment, regardless of how odd or repulsive it sounds he s so persistent that arguing with him [...]

  9. I m sorry but this was not good, at all Anders didn t seem like a real OCD guy, he really easily let go of his routines then Finch I just wanted to call the cops on him, or punch him in the face, or knee him in the nuts He was an impossible character, not in a good way So, this story didn t feel right.

  10. Review originally posted on Just Love Romance.Rating 2.5 out of 5 rounded up for this site I really struggled with this book and the relationship, because I relate to Anders way too much Like him, I am very much an introvert who prefers solitude and routine, and who would be absolutely horrified to have a boisterous, nosy neighbor invade my life So Finch was a little too overwhelming of a character for me to read, because I just wanted to take Anders and hide away with him with the door locked T [...]

  11. It was difficult writing a review for this one Not only was the story so short that there was no room for details at all, but also I think the author could ve used her existing number of pages a bit better to give us a chance to get to know the characters THE NEIGHBOR was a short story of two very different people who are neighbors duh who I suppose will form some sort of romantic entanglement in the end While Anders was a control freak with what I assume is an obsessive compulsive disorder, Fi [...]

  13. Read the full review on Bookaholics Not So Anonymous.Note This ARC was provided by Less Than Three Press in exchange for an honest review. The Neighbor is a short story by Bernadette Chapman about Anders and Finch, two neighbors who are on opposite ends of the spectrum in terms of personality and almost everything else, but can t seem to get enough of each other Both Anders and Finch push each other s buttons, which can tend to be annoying after the first couple of times They don t seem to really [...]

  14. This was a tough read for me because I thought the original premise of opposites attract would be interesting, especially when one of the leads, Anders, has OCD and likes to have rigid routine in his life Finch s purpose was to open Anders eyes and broaden his horizons, but I so often felt that Finch was just a jerk He was mean, condescending and immature when he was first introduced and I honestly didn t know why Anders even gave him the time of day Then the two men do eventually grow on each o [...]

  15. Finch is the neighbour, Anders has OCD and this is m m romance It sounded really brilliant, intriguing especially with the OCD and the cover is so beautiful, I head dived right into this in one sitting. The story is quite short, sort of like a novella and it is an easy read and easy to follow. The plot however, was rushed and I did not like that one bit There was no introduction to the characters whatsoever, they simply intertwined into each others lives Yet at the same time I couldn t put the boo [...]

  16. Anders is the misanthropic neighbor of Finch One day Finch decides to borrow some sugar and from that day forward makes it his mission to rattle Anders out of the rut that is his life.At first, only for a moment, Finch tries to get Anders to change, but it isn t long before he realizes that part of Anders charm is his steadfast reluctance to do anything new or different.Eventually, Anders realizes that Finch is than a pest he s become the love of his life This is a short story and not a typical [...]

  17. I received an advance reading copy from Net Galley for an honest review.I really liked the premise of this story, the idea that an unusual neighbor can shake Anders out of his boring, predictable life, but the execution was somewhat problematic To me the character of Finch was not quirky or adorable, but completely annoying and I would not have blamed Anders for moving away to get away from his presence I never did warm up to Anders either, feeling that he was too over the top in his stuffy grum [...]

  18. I was wary of the premise a man with OCD very set in his ways gets his life turned upside down by a new neighbor who wants him to experience of life It didn t quite end up being You don t have OCD, you re just a stick in the mud , much to my relief, but the novella still fell really flat There s no chemistry between the pairings, and then their personalities do a 180 halfway through Egh, pass e ARC provided by NetGalley

  19. 2.5 I wavered on it the idea is cute falling in love with the grumpy neighbor but really Finch is just rude sometimes and way over the top on things and that brought down the enjoyment Yep, Anders is rude too but he s admittedly hermit like and Finch s enjoyment of his discomfort didn t sit well.
